What is a Product Catalog in Service Desk?

Product catalog is a one of the key component of IT Asset management (ITAM) which is a centralised repository where organisations can maintain the list of products, asset models and services they offer to their end-users. The product catalog in HappyFox Service Desk can be configured to include essential details such as asset types, descriptions, specifications, team, availability, etc. This article explains the various components of product catalog and its features.

 

Required Permissions

Manage Asset Types of a Team

This permission will allow the user to access the Asset Types and Asset Fields sub module under Product Catalog. 

 

Manage Asset Models of a Team

This permission will allow the user to access the Asset Models sub module under Product Catalog. 

 

Note: Having none of the above permissions will disable the Product Catalog module for a user completely.

 

What are the components of Product Catalog?

There are three major components under product catalog are, 

  1. Asset Types

  2. Asset Models

  3. Asset Fields
