Connecting to Simpplr as a Knowledge source for Assist AI

Assist AI can help deflect questions from employees by suggesting relevant answers from the added knowledge source. This article explains the steps involved in integrating your Simpplr knowledge source with Assist AI.




For Slack users: You should be an Assist AI admin to complete the installation of Assist AI on Slack.

For Teams users: You should be a Global admin on Teams to complete the installation of Assist AI on Teams


Integrating Assist AI with Simpplr


Integrating Assist AI with Simpplr allows you to leverage your existing content to answer the employee queries from within Slack / Teams.


  • If you are using Assist AI on Slack, open your Slack Workspace → click on Apps → Assist AI → Home tab→ Manage Assist AI 

  • If you are using Assist AI on Teams, open your Teams workspace → click on Assist AI on the left tab → Home tab→ Manage Assist AI 

  • This opens the Assist AI's Admin dashboard

  • Click on the Apps tab from the left menu

  • Select Simpplr from the knowledge sources app list

  • Copy the Callback URL from this page

  • Login to your Simpplr Salesforce Instance (Classic mode) as the Salesforce System Administrator user.

  • Click the profile icon on the top right and choose Salesforce from the list

  • Click Setup on the top right corner. In the Quick Find box on the left, search for Apps.

  • Navigate to Build Create Apps

  • Scroll down and click on the New button in the Connected Apps tab and create a new connected app with the name of your choice by entering your email ID     

  • In the API section check the box to enable OAuth Settings

  • Paste the Callback URL from Assist AI here.

  • Add the following OAuth scopes:

              Access the identity URL service (id, profile, email, address, phone)

              Manage user data via APIs (API)

              Manage user data via Web browsers (web)

              Access Visualforce applications (visualforce)

              Perform requests at any time (refresh_token, offline_access)






  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save. The system will inject a confirmation step denoting that these changes will take between 2-10 minutes to take effect.

  • Click the Continue button.

  • When Save is clicked, the browser redirects to the connected app’s detail screen. Notice that the Consumer Key and Client Secret are provided.

  • Copy the provided Consumer Key and Client Secret and paste it into the Assist AI Simplr Apps page

  • Click Install and then click Allow

  • You can type your Site name in the Add a Simpplr site to sync from the dropdown and fetch the sites you would like to sync with Assist AI

  • Click Add



  • Your Simpplr account is now successfully connected to Assist AI

Testing the integration between Assist AI and Simpplr:


Open your Slack / Teams Workspace, head to Apps Assist AI

Click on the Messages tab

Enter a question from the knowledge source available in your Simpplr account

Assist AI will fetch relevant answers from the newly connected Simpplr knowledge source. With this, the Simpplr integration and testing is completed successfully.


Note: It takes around 20 minutes to complete the data import. Please test the integration post that.
