Google Endpoint Management is a cloud-based service that focuses on mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM). Integrating Google Endpoint Management with HappyFox Help Desk solutions enables seamless device synchronization, associating devices from Google Endpoint Management with tickets and contacts within the help desk, and enhancing collaboration between IT support teams and end-users. 

HappyFox use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

With Google Endpoint Management - Happyfox Help Desk Integration

Sync Devices: Devices managed in Google Endpoint Management are seamlessly synced with the HappyFox Help Desk, ensuring up-to-date device information for efficient management.

Associate Tickets with Devices: HappyFox Help Desk tickets can be directly linked to specific devices from Google Endpoint Management, enabling more accurate tracking and resolution of issues.  

Associate Contacts with Devices: User contacts are linked to their respective devices, offering a comprehensive view and enhancing communication and support.


Installation Guidelines

Permission Alert: You require Manage App Settings managerial permission to install or configure the Google Endpoint Management App for your HappyFox Help Desk account. 

  • Please log in to your HappyFox Help Desk account.  

  • Go to All Apps, select Endpoint Management from the menu and click on Install.

  • To connect your Google Workspace account with the Help Desk, click the Link Google Endpoint Management button.

  • Sign in with the Google Workspace account you want to use for device synchronization, and accept the requested permissions.

Note: To sync the mobile devices and Chrome devices from respective organization unit you should provide following permission 

  • Read your mobile device metadata

  • Read your chrome OS device metadata

  • Read organization Units on your domain

  • In the next screen, you have to configure what device you want to sync from Google endpoint management to HappyFox Help Desk.  
     

Note: On the configuration page under Chrome devices, we will list only the parent and child Organizational Units (OUs). However, if you have devices in grandchild OUs or below, selecting the child OU will fetch all devices from the child OU and all its sub-OUs.

  • After saving your configuration setup, a default sync will begin. Syncing devices from your Google Endpoint Management to HappyFox Help Desk may take a few minutes.

  • Once the devices are synchronized, you will notice the last sync timestamp, number of devices synced and option to download the synced devices report.

Note: By default, device synchronization from Google Endpoint Management to HappyFox Help Desk is scheduled daily at 12:01 am, aligned with the account's timezone. Additionally, you can manually trigger synchronization by selecting the "Sync Now" button.

 

Managed Asset Type:

  • During the asset synchronization process, two managed asset types “Mobile Devices and Chrome Devices” have been introduced in your HappyFox Help Desk account.

  • You can access the managed asset types under "Asset → Settings → Asset Type."

  • The Managed types—Mobile Devices and Chrome Devices—will be accompanied by an icon next to them, indicating the respective asset types created during Google Endpoint Management synchronization.

  • The Managed asset types cannot be edited or deleted.

  • You can adjust the Contact Association, Ticket Association, and Asset quantity on tickets toggle according to your requirements.

Managed Asset Fields:

  • Managed asset fields are added to managed asset types (Mobile and Chrome Devices).

  • You can access the managed asset fields under “Asset → Settings → Asset fields”

  • The Managed asset fields for mobile devices and chrome devices vary, as they are designed based on the responses received from Google Endpoint Management.

  • The Managed asset fields cannot  be edited or deleted.

  • To create a additional field under a managed asset type, simply click the "+" icon next to the asset type name.

  • Additional asset fields can be cloned, edited, and deleted as needed.

Managed Asset:

  • Devices from Google Endpoint Management are automatically synced to their respective managed asset types.

  • You can access the managed devices by navigating to "Assets" and selecting the desired asset type (Mobile or Chrome Devices).

  • Devices synced from Google Endpoint Management will be accompanied by an icon.

  • The managed devices can be cloned but cannot be edited or deleted.

  • You can edit, clone, or delete devices manually added.

  • Contacts can be assigned to the asset from the Contact component in the right pane.

  • Tickets associated with the asset can be viewed in the Recent Ticket section.

  • You can manually add devices under the managed asset type.

Manage Endpoint Management App

  • Clicking "Disable this app" on the Microsoft Integration page will deactivate the integration, disconnecting the asset sync.

  • To enable the sync, click "Enable this app" in the status section. 

Note: Deleting or disabling the synced Google Endpoint management account in the app manage page will not un-sync or remove synced devices from HappyFox Help Desk.


Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Is the device synchronization between Google Endpoint Management and HappyFox Help Desk one-way or two-way?

Device synchronization between Google Endpoint Management and HappyFox Help Desk is one-way. This means that any changes made in Google Endpoint Management will be reflected in HappyFox Help Desk, but additional fields added by the user in HappyFox Help Desk will not be synced back to Google Endpoint Management.

 

  • What permissions are required to install and configure the Google Endpoint Management app in HappyFox Help Desk?

You need "Manage App Settings" managerial permission in HappyFox Help Desk. To sync the devices you should have the following privileges.

  • Mobile Device Management - Read

  • Chrome Management - Read

  • Organizational Unite - Read

 

  • How often is device synchronization scheduled?

By default, device synchronization from Google Endpoint Management to HappyFox Help Desk is scheduled daily at 12:01 am, based on the account's timezone. You can also manually trigger synchronization by selecting the "Sync Now" button.

 

  • Will disabling the app or deleting the synced Google endpoint management account remove the devices from HappyFox Help Desk?

No, deleting or disabling the synced Google endpoint management  account will not un-sync or remove synced devices from HappyFox Help Desk.
 

  • What does "Managed devices" mean? 

Managed devices are devices synchronized from Google Endpoint Management to HappyFox Help Desk. These devices cannot be edited or deleted within the Help Desk. However, any changes made to these devices in Google Endpoint Management will be synchronized with HappyFox Help Desk either manually through the "Sync Now" action or automatically the next day at 12:01 AM through a scheduled action

 

  • Is it necessary to accept all the requested permissions when linking with a Google Endpoint Management account?

Yes, it is necessary to accept all the required scopes when linking with a Google Endpoint Management account. Specifically, we need your permission for the following scopes:

  • "View your mobile devices' metadata" to read and sync devices from your Google Endpoint Management account.
  • "View your Chrome OS devices' metadata" to read and sync Chrome OS devices from your Google Endpoint Management account.
  • "View organizational units on your domain" to access the list of organizational units in your Google Endpoint Management account.
