What is a Service Catalog?
Service Catalog is a single source of information on the various services, service and product offerings of an organisation available to the employees for requesting. It helps in standardising the request management and request fulfilment process and to improve the overall operation efficiency.
In HappyFox Service Desk, Service Catalog has two key components
- Catalog Groups
- Catalog Items
Using catalog groups and catalog items,
- Service desk admins can organise and present the service and product offerings in a structured manner to the end-users.
- This hierarchical structure will enhance user experience by presenting a structured and organised view of the available offerings, making it easier for employees or end-users to find and select the services that align with their needs.
- Additionally, it simplifies the process of request management, contributing to a more efficient service experience.
What are Catalog Items?
Catalog item represents an individual service or product or resource that will be available for the users to request or access through the service catalog. Each catalog item provides detailed information about a specific service, including its description, features, specification, pricing (if applicable), and instructions on how to request or utilize the service. Catalog items are typically organized within catalog groups to create a structured hierarchy within the service catalog.
For example, in an IT service catalog, catalog groups could represent different types of service categories such as Hardware, Software, Network Services, Security Services, etc. Each catalog group would contain the relevant items or services associated with that category.
